I was tired of manually sharing my blog articles on my Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook accounts so I decided to automate the process using Jekyll front matter variables, RSS feeds, and IFTTT applets.

Yesterday, I was troubleshooting a corrupted SIM Tool instance export of Habitat. The exported ZIP file could not be imported back and 7-Zip identified CRC errors in 2 files.

Have you ever experienced a never ending instance export in the SIM Tool? It happened to me today. It was always stuck at the last step, Assembling zip package.

After trial and error, I discovered it was likely a security access issue and that the SIM tool didn’t have write access to the root of my D drive.

Inspired by Olivier Lafleur’s last year review, here is my year 2016 in review as of December 24th.

The SIM Tool is packed with a lot of nice utilities. One of them is the ability to install MongoDB with only one click. It is very useful on a new development machine to get up and running in no time.
